Oh so subtly beef is being removed from America’s menus even on Super Bowl Sunday. I’m Susan Allen stay tuned for OpenRange. Super Bowl Sunday, like Fathers Day is wrought with testosterone so where’s the beef? Rather, where are the beef commercials? The Beef industry should be targeting Super Bowl Sunday sales like candy companies market Valentines Day they’re not but watch out anti-meat activist are. In anticipation of chili, and nacho’s laden with hamburger, pigs in a blanket etc... of colts and saints (me for throwing a Super bowl party ) I was thumbing through the USA Weekend magazine, the little glossy tucked in Sundays paper, and found “ How to host an Eco-Friendly Super Bowl” Hum? A green super bowl that advocates e-vites and never ever using paper decorations in team colors rather food and flowers for centerpieces...OK for the Black and Gold Saints, there’s Black beans and tortilla chips. The colts? ...white and blue...I’m struggling here...onion dip? Come-on! The writer urged us to go organic and local for the Super Bowl and to “help” my guests make healthier choices by serving vegetarian food, vegan cookies and meat –free chili. Vegan cookies would be punted like a pig-skin with my crowd. Seriously the article is sobering for cattle producers because of it’s anti-meat message that is infiltrating the US without encountering a good offence or at least some tough defensive moves from the beef industry. I’m Susan Allen
