Ever wonder what those occupy Wall Streeters and other activist do for a living so they have the luxury of time to protest? Well I’ll tell you they don’t farm or ranch and that’s the frustrating part, so many of us would like to fight the mistruths we face in agriculture but were are simply too busy working . I’m Susan Allen when Open Range returns I’ll share a way your money can be your mouth.
When animal rights groups target America’s farmers and ranchers it often doesn’t seem like there’s much we can do to fight back. Well the Animal Agriculture Alliance has provided us a good example of taking stock of what we purchase and where we bank. You see they approached Bank of America over concerns that the Bank supported the Humane Society of the US, a noted anti-agriculture group that really has nothing to do with saving any puppies at your local humane society. Bank of America wouldn’t budge in their stance and severe ties with this group that is constantly pouring money into anti- ag campaigns nor will they withdraw their affinity card program that gives $60.00 from each new card to the HSUS. Thus the Animal Agriculture Alliance announced it’s ended it’s business relationship with the bank after 25 years stating that they “cannot continue a business relationship with companies that are contributing financially to extreme animal rights organizations that seek to eliminate the animal agriculture industry.” That needs to be turned into a question those of us who care about US agriculture ask ourselves.
