Voices Across the Plains -- Week of May 21
This update brought to you by Quilt® brand fungicides from Syngenta. This season, don't forget to rely on Quilt Xcel® or Quilt fungicides to protect cereal crops from yield-robbing diseases.
Northwest wheat grower Mike Miller shares stripe rust is now apparent.
Miller: “It is no longer reports, it is confirmations that we have some showing up on our farm in some irrigated wheat and it looks like the airplane is going to be called and start spraying Tilt probably once these band of showers goes through in the next couple of days.”
Miller says farmers in his dryland area are busy in the fields with summer fallow.
Miller: “Lots of guys are making their summer fallow work. A lot of plowing going on and fertilizing started where they are starting to put Nitrogen in the ground. It’s just a busy time of year. You see tractors going everywhere.”
Syngenta reminds cereal growers to protect their crops from damaging diseases with Quilt brand fungicides. When applied between Feekes Growth Stages 8 and 10.5, Quilt Xcel and Quilt provide long-lasting, broad-spectrum disease control and protect the valuable flag leaf to help ensure maximum grain fill and grower profit.
