I have complained bitterly about children sitting in front of video screens playing animated games. But wait. Maybe I I am judging too quickly. According to an article in the Twin Falls Times news, a free online kindergarten readiness program will be offered this fall to four and five-year-olds in rural areas across Idaho. The nonprofit Waterford Institute which runs the Waterford Upstart program is leading the charge towards making pre-kindergarten youngsters ready for academic challenges in years to come. Here's what they say on their website. At Waterford, we make tools that grow the reach and impact of great teachers. We encourage and contribute to research around integrating technology and early learning. We use technology to personalize each child's learning experience. Because every child deserves a great start. Research shows early childhood interventions for young learners are more effective than those that come later in life.
