Hi everybody it's time for your Land and Livestock Report here on the Ag Information Network of the West-I'm Russell Nemetz.

This week Ag lenders from across our region and nation are in Milwaukee, WI for the 2017 ABA National Agricultural Bankers Conference. This year's theme is "The Next Cycle." One of this year's featured speakers was Dr. Dave Kohl, an Ag economist and highly sought Ag financial analyst. He shares his thoughts on Agriculture's current economic cycle.

"It's going to be the winter period and what I'm starting to observe during this winter period is that I have a certain group of producers who have made adjustments and they're making a little bit of money. I have another group that I call the bridge and they're looking to refinance. And then I have another group of producers who are out there at the end of the pier who are burning through land equity, etc. In the next few years-between 2018 and 2025-we'll weed out some of the less efficient and less progress managers and the ones remaining will buy out the operations in trouble."

That's your Land and Livestock Report-I'm Russell Nemetz.
