The Fresno County Ag Commissioner's office released the 2018 County Crop Report and it's a record breaker.

Commissioner Melissa Cregan reports that Fresno County's total gross production value for 2018 is nearly 7.9 billion dollars. (( $7,887,583,790. This represents an increase of $859,559,690 or 12.23% over the previous year's total of $7,028,024,100.. ))

Ryan Jacobson CEO of the Fresno County Farm Bureau spoke with California Ag Today's Patrick Cavanaugh.

Almonds continue to be the leading agricultural commodity in Fresno County with a gross value of nearly 1.2 billion ($1,178,182,069.) That represents nearly 15 percent of the total gross value of all crops produced in 2018.

The total gross value of grapes remained in the number two spot at $1,1 billion followed by pistachios for the first time at $862 million.

Over the next few weeks/months other crop reports will be released from other major central valley counties.
