Ag Leadership Program Part 2. I’m Greg Martin with Colorado Ag Today.

The Colorado Agricultural Leadership Program’s Executive Director, Angie Cue says the next class is going to be a bit smaller than usual.

CUE: We have 22 fellows that will be in class 12 and that starts in February of this year. We just graduated a class back in April and that class actually had 30 fellows in it. When they graduated they gave some recommendations to our board that they wanted to see the future classes be just a little bit smaller so that they could interact with each other much more efficiently, so they could network with each other better and that the program itself would be more well rounded education wise.

CALP is a two-year program that helps enhance the leadership skills of ag industry people in Colorado. The program can help make students better farmers, ranchers and industry leaders as well as make them more marketable.

CUE: That is what our goal is. We hope that the individuals going through group would be more informed on the ag issues , on the political processes. We hope to give them the confidence, the skills, the network that they need to go back to their community - go back to their farm or ranch - go back to their companies and just be more active and be a voice for agriculture.
