Making A Change

Making A Change

Making A Change. I’m Greg Martin with Colorado Ag Today.

Sometimes you just have to make a change and go where your people are. Wilbur-Ellis’ Vice President of Operations, Jim Loar says that just what they did.

LOAR: The Wilbur-Ellis ag division has moved its operational center from Walnut Creek, California to the Denver metro area, actually Aurora, Colorado. We just opened our office here about a week ago and we’re looking forward to being part of the Denver metro community and Aurora specifically. The move to Denver is part of a project and program we call “Alignment for Growth.”

Loar says that Wilbur-Ellis has grown dramatically over the last several years.

LOAR: We found that operationally being on the far-western edge of our operating geography made it it difficult for travel. It made it difficult to be in front of our people as a management team as often as we’d like. We were a long way from a lot of our customers so we looked at Denver as a more central location. And if you look at Wilbur-Ellis, we have about as many branches, retail stores west of the Rockies as we do east of the Rockies.

The home office will remain in California with another division in Washington State.

LOAR: Our challenge will be to support our branches and our customers. So if you look at my responsibility as operational leader, my primary goal is the support of our people, support of our customers and support of our branches.

And that’s Colorado Ag Today. I’m Greg Martin, thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network of the West.
