Wheat Field Days

Wheat Field Days

Wheat Field Days. I’m Greg Martin with Colorado Ag Today.

The 2015 Colorado Wheat Days are coming up tomorrow through next Tuesday and it’s a good chance to get out in the field, kick some dirt and see what is growing. Kim Warner, VP Operations at Colorado Wheat.

WARNER: They’re hosted at 11 different trial sites throughout Eastern Colorado. With out partnership with Colorado State University and the Colorado State University Extension specialist, they will be out in the field and showing us what is happening at those trial sites including looking at the various varieties that they have planted and how they are all doing especially in our current conditions with stripe rust and a number of other things happening.

Weather has also been a big factor with the development of wheat. Warner talks about how to attend.

WARNER: The schedule is posted at our website at ColoradoWheat.org and there are about two trials per day that they go look at. It’s going to be very busy but it’s also very fun. It gives us an opportunity to interface with all of our great Colorado wheat farmers and have them ask questions, look forward to any new varieties that they see in those new test plots. A lot of times those test plots contain varieties that will be released soon but haven’t been released yet so they can see what the new varieties are coming up.

And that’s Colorado Ag Today. I’m Greg Martin, thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network of the West.
