Well, a great way to compete for that blue ribbon glory is to entry your pride and joy project into one or more of Colorado State Fair’s 1,500 possible classes in 12 departments as well as many special contests.

Colorado State Fair General Manager Chris Wiseman shares how people from anywhere in the state can participate.

Wiseman: “What you do is go to our website. The 2015 premium book information is online right now. You can get all the information out of that. You can download PDF file that can help you with the entry and all the information that is particular to what you are entering because some of them are handled differently. So you need to go to the website and do your best to research your area and make sure you follow what is required for that particular contest.”

The website is coloradostatefair.com. He continues with additional information about all the special contests.

Wiseman: “Something that some people might be interested in is our special contests. Those are things like our wine contest — there are all listed there. There is one for cupcakes. There is one for the Gold Medal Flour. There is one for commercial wines, hobby wine, home brews. There is a lot of special contests. Something we added this year is the Pooches Contest and people can enter some of their funny and interesting photos of their dog.”

Entry deadline is July 31st.
