CSU's Ag Day is Sept. 5th

This is Saturday, September 5th, marks the first Colorado State University’s home football game and the celebration of CSU’s 2015 Ag Day.

 

Colorado State University Executive Associate Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences Dr. James Pritchett shares more details of the day’s events which promotes the state’s agriculture as well as the department.

 

Pritchett: “This is a fantastic day for Agriculture, actually our 34th year that Colorado Agriculture puts its best foot forward at Ag Day — which is usually the first home game of the season at Colorado State University. Prior to the game, folks have the opportunity to come in and sample some of the best Colorado ag commodities. Commodity groups get together and the provide — it ranges from apples, to breads, to meats some of our beef and lamb and pork as well as our beans. Just a variety of everything you can get in Colorado at harvest time available . Folks can purchase a ticket and nobody ever leaves hungry.”

 

Ag Day proceeds also provide critical funding for scholarships granted to deserving students in the College of Agricultural Sciences. Each year, the event typically funds between 12 and 15 student scholarships.

 

In addition to live music, interactive exhibits will also feature some of the cutting-edge research taking place in the College of Agricultural Sciences. College student organizations will also have booths at the event and a number of farm implements will be on display as well as fun kid activities like insect races.
