Resources To Help Shoppers Find Local Products

Well with less than 50 days left before Christmas, are you looking for gift giving ideas that celebrate Colorado and its fabulous agriculture? The Colorado Department of Agriculture has released its Winter Farmers’ Market List which provides information about markets statewide. Additional online resources include the Colorado Food and Agriculture Gift Guide and Colorado Christmas Tree List, which help connect holiday shoppers with local producers. Colorado Department of Ag’s Marketing Specialist Wendy White shares more
White: “The Colorado Department of Agriculture has a wide variety of resources to help connect shoppers with local products. So Colorado Proud items — whether it is fresh produce, meats, value-added manufactured food products — they make great gifts for the holiday gift-giving season. So we have our Colorado Food and Agriculture Gift Guide on our website as well as a list of our Winter Farmers Markets. A lot of the farmers markets are extending their season into the fall and winter months — most are going indoors. In addition to those two resources we will also be adding our Annual Christmas Tree List, so people can find Colorado Christmas trees that are available.”White continues with more information about where to find Christmas trees in your area.
White: “There are a lot of u-cut operations and our list also includes information about getting permits to cut in the national forests. So we have just a lot of helpful information about where to go to cut your own tree or to pick one out at a local u-cut or Christmas tree farm.”
