Bob Stallman Appreciation Day

Bob Stallman Appreciation Day

Yesterday, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack decreed the day, American Farm Bureau Retiring President Bob Stallman Appreciation Day. Secretary Vilsack shares how instrumental Stallman and his involvement was in getting the 2014 Farm Bill passed.
Vilsack: “There would have not been a 2014 Farm Bill but for for Farm Bureau and Bob Stallman’s leadership and encouraging members of Congress to understand the significance and importance of getting the job done. I’m proud of that bill and I’m proud the work the deputy and her team did in implementing the 2014 Farm Bill in record fashion. But I’m particularly pleased that we are getting relief and assistance to folks who need it and deserve it. Without Bob’s help, we would not have had that 2014 Farm Bill and it would not have been as crafted as innovatively and creatively as it was.”
Stallman is retiring as President of the American Farm Bureau Federation after 16 years of service. He served in leadership roles in Farm Bureau for a total of 22 years and has been active in his family’s rice and cattle operation in Texas for the past 40 years.
Later this week, the American Farm Bureau will hold its annual Convention in Orlando and will elect a new president.
