Krafsur: “I’m truly humbled, especially when I hear that were 35 applicants applied for it and I was one of two. I’m still pinching myself and I'm truly honored. It honors a wonderful man who gave so much to the cattle industry and water conservation. When I’m driving out to feedlots to do vet work in Northeast Colorado you can't help but think about what WD Farr did for our industry -- it is amazing.”
She has been using her veterinary pathology training to explain the development of bovine high-mountain disease, known as Brisket Disease. She hopes to identify the biomarkers associated with the phenotype that can be used to predict disease risk, with the goal of improving selective breeding, precondition, and fattening regimens.
