Syngenta's Agrisure Artesian Corn Hybrids Optimizes Water

Syngenta Seeds Commercial Traits Lead Dr. Duane Martin says that their water-optimizing Agrisure Artesian corn hybrids can provide a strategy for a good year and that same strategy can protect you in a tough year.
Martin: “We think that this is a real opportunity — not just a defensive strategy that will cause you to choose a corn hybrid that you may not want to grow because it holds together better in a drought situation. We like to say that our artisan hybrid maximize yields when it rains and increase yields when it doesn’t. So a farmer that buys an Agrisure Artesian hybrid gives up nothing at the top end as far as yield. We make sure that these yields perform at or near the top of the entire testing range that we perform — so these are great yielding hybrids but they also have the ability to do better in severe or extreme drought. Once again they can deliver on the order of 10 to 12 percent in a mock trial and in the extreme drought like we saw in 2012 they were adding 30 to 35 percent — and top number was 38 percent — yield during those extreme conditions.”
Dr. Martin adds that this hybrid also can help to level out a field with big swings of variability within the fields soil and provide a more consistent response across the variable soils.
