Pork on the Grill

Pork on the Grill

Next week the three-day holiday marks the official beginning to summer. The Pork Checkoff is launching a special summer grilling campaign. Pork Checkoff consumer communications director Pamela Johnson sees this promotion will incorporate media and public relations to promote pork on the grill.

Johnson: "Grilling is very huge for pork. Grilling isn't grilling without pork on the grate. Our integrated marketing efforts are truly that. We are going to be deploying print ads, tv commercial, digital videos and this summer we are bringing the grills to life to really get cooking this summer. By what I mean for that we have actually have two grills as our advocates and spokespeople for the campaign. It is really going to be a lot of fun."

With this marketing campaign, eight new recipes are being featured

Johnson: "We have everything from a pulled pork salad to grilled pizzas to a couple of pork and charizo burgers and even a stuffed pork tenderloin. So really trying to inspire consumers with the different cuts of pork that they can grill and of course all the different ways they can do it. So all of our advertising and all of our PR efforts will be focusing on those recipes but of course we have a full database of recipes on porkbeinspired.com full of other grilling recipes trying to fill every grilling need this summer."
