Ag Yield Survey Reminder

Ag Yield Survey Reminder

NASS Mountain Region Director Bill Meyer reminds ag producers who receive one of the monthly Ag Yield Survey to please fill it out and return it.
Meyer: “With winter wheat harvest going on, we’re still continuing ag yield monthly program. That is a smaller survey that we started back in May and continuing it monthly through the growing season. The June crop report we noted that the winter wheat was estimated to yield 45 bushels to the acre across the state. If that is realized that will be a record yield, compared to our last record of 43 bushels per acre that was set in 2010. Now at the end of this month, we will send out about 800 questionnaires across the state, we’ll still ask about the small grains but will also ask about our corn, our sunflower our dry beans — the row crops.”
The initial survey asks farmers how many acres of row crops and hay they intend to harvest, and their expected yield per acre. In subsequent months, NASS asks the same farmers to update their expected yield per acre. This ensures the information collected captures any month-to-month changes. The next release will happen on August 12th. Meyer continues
Meyer: “This will be our first look at our corn production in Colorado and in the United Staes. I know it is a much anticipated report that comes out at that time.”
