In the same year as the birth of Laura Ingalls Wilder, the purchase of Alaska from Russia and nine years before Colorado becoming a state — the Colorado Cattlemen Association was established — the year was 1867. As the organization draws nearer to its 150th anniversary, they are considering what they want their future to look like. CCA

Executive Vice President Terry Fankhauser shares more details about their strategic process

Fankhauser: "We are really taking a hard look at the association and the model that we have in place, the tactics that we use and the outreach that we do both within the organization and beyond the organization. It times nicely with that 150th that we are going through a renewed strategic planning process that really is an evaluation of do these historic associations really meet members return on investment and are we moving the needle for the beef industry. I think we do a good job of that but I definitely think we can do a better job. It maybe we don't break the mold but rather just crack it a little bit and reshape it. The tagline for doing that we are working underneath is, Advancing The Legacy — so honoring the past and evolving into our future. We'll see what that brings — we not entirely aware of what the look of it will be but we'll be moving between now and January of 2017 to develop a new strategic plan that develops our future."
