CO Fruit and Vegetable Growers Assn Co-Host Legislative Roundtable

Tomorrow Colorado Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association will be co-hosting along with U.S. Congressman Mike Coffman a roundtable discussion and tour for the Colorado congressional delegation in Brighton, Colorado. CFVGA President Robert Sakata shares more details about the breakfast and the morning's events

Sakata: "We're going to have Colorado sweet corn, we'll have Rocky Ford cantaloupe and melons and Palisade peaches — we're going to have what is available locally to serve them for breakfast. Then it will be a roundtable discussion. There will be vegetables growers in our area that talk to them about he challenges we face. Like not finding enough qualified help. Provide them with some ideas about what Congress can hopefully work through to help us overcome some of these hurdles."

The event provide Colorado's congressional delegation with the opportunity to get to see and learn more about some of the states commodities

Sakata: "Ag is so diverse — we have a tendency to just say ag and yet ag is so many different things whether it is livestock or vegetable production, grain production. We are so unique in the opportunities and the challenges face. I think it is great that they are going to be able to come out here and tour the farm."

In addition to CFVGA growers, the agriculture sector will be represented at the roundtable and tour by Colorado Farm Bureau, and Rocky Mountain Farmers Union.
