Colorado Corn Accepting FFA Grant Program Applications

Colorado Corn Accepting FFA Grant Program Applications

For Colorado FFA Chapters who are looking for outside financial resources for projects, the fourth year the Colorado Corn Administrative Committee is now accepting applications for its FFA Grant Program. Communications Director Eric Brown shares more details

Brown: "These dollars have helped both new some new FFA chapters get off the ground along the Front Range in communities like Fort Collins where a lot of kids aren't exposed to agriculture. It's also helped very ag-focused communities and schools like North Platte FFA chapter in Kursey. They implement some irrigation efficiency technology on a research farm that this chapter has in Kursey. So it has really helped a diversity of kids and a lot of kids its enhanced their knowledge of agriculture and exposed — in the case of the Fort Collins example — exposed kids to agriculture that they otherwise wouldn't get."

Colorado Corn began its FFA grant program in 2013, awarding a $5,000 grant to the winner during the first year, and all together has contributed $21,484 to FFA chapters in the state. Brown continues

Brown: "Typically do a a $5,000 grant to help the winner with their project but have gone above and beyond a time or too. We don't restrict it to just that $5,000 for a winner — if there is some other worthy applicants that we want to help out than we have allocated more funds to help chapters out with that. It has been a very beneficial endeavor from the prospective of the board and staff here at Colorado Corn."

Applications are due Nov. 15th. For more information or to find an application, go to www.coloradocorn.com.
