New Pig Farmers of Tomorrow Award

New Pig Farmers of Tomorrow Award

The Pork Checkoff is introducing a new awards program. Pork Checkoff spokesperson Cindy Cunningham says this new national program is to recognize, inspire, and connect with the next generation of America's pig farmers.

Cunningham: "Now through November 22nd, the Pork Board is seeking applications from young producers to become one of the 2017 Pig Farmers of Tomorrow. If you are looking for more information on that — just go to the website pigfarmersoftomorrow.com."?

Cunningham continues with more details. ??Cunningham: "This new award will recognize future farm leaders — those who are 18 to 29 —- who intend to make pig farming their life's work and are committed to the U.S. Pork industry and raising pigs using the We Care ethical principles. Up to three award recipients will be selected in the program's inaugural year. Those winners will be invited to speak at the National Pork Board's Pork Industry Forum in Atlanta, Georgia in March. They will also be responsible for providing content via the pork industry's social media program #realpigfarming. To apply applicants must be actively involved in raising pigs in the U.S. on a full or part time and be between the ages of 18 and 29 as of January 1st, 2017. Students who are currently enrolled in college programs are encouraged to apply."
