Three FFA Chapters Awarded CO Corn Grants

With many of Colorado corn growers members being FFA alumni and recognize the tremendous value of the program, the Colorado Corn Administrative Committee supports the state's FFA Chapters.

Since the FFA Grant program began nearly $30,000 has been contributed to FFA Chapter across the state since beginning the grant program in 2013. Colorado Corn Communications Director Eric Brown shares more details about the three FFA chapters that were each awarded a $2,500 grants and their deserving projects.

Brown: "This year we did $7,500 all together and those three chapters: one was Holly FFA and that's going to help them with a watering system and a fertilizer injector in its greenhouse. The students with Holly FFA Chapter sell flowers, vegetables to the public and use those proceeds to fund their activities. Another one is Sedgwick County FFA to build a 50 by 20 structure on their school farm to raise market hogs as an organization to sell to the community and also help kids raising animals for fair projects. The other was to Manzanola FFA they are waiting to have their application approved by the state. As we were informed from the teacher who is spearheaded that effort it is looking like it will go through. So we wanted to help with some funding to help get that off the ground: FFA jackets and other curriculum that they would need for their inaugural members."
