Brunet: “The USDA’s NRCS’s National Water and Climate Center’s Colorado SnowTel Snow and Precipitation update for Thursday, February 9, 2017 has the Gunnison River Basin’s snow water equivalent at 162, the Upper Colorado River Basin at 149, the South Platte River Basin at 147; the Laramie and North Platte River Basins at 132; the Yampa and White River Basins at 128; the Arkansas River Basin at 155; the Upper Rio Grande Basin at 151; and the San Miguel, Delores, Animas and San Juan River Basins at 164 as a percent of the median of all SnowTel sites in each year compared previous years. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor during the past week, a series of storms bring widespread rain and snow showers impacted the states along the Pacific Coast and the Northern Rockies.”
Also released yesterday was the USDA’s Crop Production report in which reported the monthly balance sheets. U.S. wheat ending stocks were lower by 47 million bushels compared to the previous month due to strong global demand for U.S. quality milling wheat. For U.S. corn the February’s ending stocks were down by 35 million bushel decrease due mostly to increase food, seed and industrial use of corn.
