Upcoming Colorado Water Workshop

On March 22nd the Yampa/White Basin Ag Producers' Water Future Workshop will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Colorado Ag Water Alliance member Greg Peterson shares more details about the day's agenda.

Peterson: "There is a combination of presentations by events and projects that are going on in the area as well as across the state. For example we have Phil Brink from the Colorado Cattlemen's Association talking about the survey about ag water leasing; Dan Birch from the CO River Water Conservation District talking about the Colorado Water Banking Work Group and the Co River Compact; Kevin Rein Deputy State Engineer his talking about use it or lose it and these ideas we have about water law; Erin Light, who is division engineer in that part of the state she'll be talking about water waste. Then we will have a couple of different groups that work in the area: Colorado Water Trust, Trout Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy discussing about some of the programs the've put on and the partnership that they have formed with local ag water users. Then we are going to have a local ag producer talking about the challenges of reinvading a ditch and what the process has been like for him."
