Celebrating Colorado Ag Industry at Ag Day at the Capitol

The 48 organizations that make up the Colorado Ag Council will host Agriculture Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, March 22, in Denver – an event that will feature the teaming up of 13 local chefs with lawmakers and ag representatives in a cook-off competition of Colorado-grown foods. One of the participating chefs — Chef Jason Morse is owner chef of 5280 Culinary and has been a participation in the cook-off competition from the beginning.

He says that the event has become a must-attend event for legislators, their staff as well as for the ag industry and chefs alike. He says as a chef he has a responsibility to help share the positive story of Colorado agriculture and this event is a great way to do that.

Morse: "And for us it is huge. We love it — I love it. It is one of my most favorite days of the year because it puts all of us out there to see that chefs and agriculture and the community need to come together to really hope promote all things agriculture -whether it is production, processing. Yea, it is one of the best days of the year."

This event has become one of the most popular events under the Golden Dome – attended by more than 1,000 people last year, including the governor, state legislators, farmers, ranchers and many others.

The public and media are all invited to attend the event, which is held in conjunction with National Agriculture Week.

Agriculture Day at the Capitol begins at 10:45 a.m., and lunch – the final product of the on-site, 13-team cook-off competition – will be served around 11:30 a.m.
