Food, Fiber & More! Ag in the Classroom Summer Institute

It is time to register for the Colorado Ag in the Classroom's Food, Fiber & More! Summer Institutes where teachers gain valuable hands-on experience about agriculture. Colorado Foundation for Agriculture Director Bette Blinde provides more details

Blinde: "Our Summer Institutes — we have three of them this year. Rifle will be June 12-16, Fort Collins is June 19-23 and Denver is June 26 - 30th. Our Summer Institutes are five days long and they are designed for teachers with little or no agricultural background. What we do is take them out of their comfort zone and immerse them in all things agriculture. We tour a variety of ag operations — large operations, small operations; they can see organic and conventional but they see the diversity of Colorado agriculture and the career opportunities in agriculture."

Blinde says that the Ft. Collins event is filing up fast. If you knew of a teacher who might enjoy the experience as well as possibility of receiving three continuing credits from CSU — have them go to growingyourfuture.com to register.

Blinde: "If a teacher would like to attend, we do have scholarships available. We have a variety of different groups that think it is important for teachers to learn about agriculture and they are willing to sponsor teachers to attend these institutes."

Blinde adds that attendees response to the five-day institute is very positive.
