Colorado Egg Producers Donate Over 300,000 Eggs to Food Banks for Easter

During the recent Easter celebration, Colorado's local egg farms once again help to ensure that those neighbors in need wouldn't go hungry. Colorado Egg Producers Executive Director Bill Scebbi shares more details of his organization's role

Scebbi: "They are a very giving organization and they do realize the need to help supply food banks with quality protein and quality food. They really have a long history of working with Food Bank of Rockies and other food banks across the state."

Scebbi continues with details about the most recent event.

Scebbi: "We do an egg drive every year at Easter time working with Food Bank of Rockies. At our event egg producers from around the state donate 306,000 eggs and those eggs were distributed to different food banks. At the event itself, at Dick's Sporting Good Park, we provide over 350 families with six to eight dozen eggs."

During the past 10 years in which the Colorado Egg Producers member-farms have partnered with Feeding Colorado, the total in Easter donations has amounted to about 3 million eggs. Although, when factoring in their regular weekly and monthly donations, Colorado's egg farms donate an estimated 1 million eggs per year to local food banks.
