New Partnership Provides Additional Ag Degree for Adams State Students

A new partnership between San Luis Valley's Adams State University and Colorado State University will provide a new degree program in agriculture for Adams State students. Many of Adams State students are first generation college attendees.

Adams State biology associate professor Dr. Kristy Duran shares how this new ag program is going to be a very positive option for students.

Duran: "Probably one of the main benefits for our students is to have an option of where they'd like to get their degree. I think having the breadth of experience taking online courses from folks at Colorado State University but also having the smaller face-to-face classes that Adams State can offer with a lot of our upper division classes as well as our lower division. So I think that it is going to be a fantastic experience for our students to have that big school-type of courses as then the face-to-face more personalized experience that we can offer here at Adams State."

Duran adds that past Adams State Faculty Trustee and CSU graduate, Leroy Salazar was integral in initiating the conversation between the two schools about a year and half ago.

The new degree option will begin this fall and students will be able to choose from two concentrations — biology and business.
