More changes for employees and that means for customers of the U S Department of Agriculture.

Secretary Sonny Perdue released a video and sent an email to announce the realignment of a number of offices within the USDA.

" Our mission is to provide our farmers, ranchers and producers with what they need, when they need it. When we find areas where we can modernize, innovate and improve, that's what we're going to do. At USDA we have the best professional staff of any department in the US government. So let's continue to do right and feed everyone."

The International Food Commodity Procurement program currently in the Farm Service Agency (FSA) will merge into the domestic Commodity Food Procurement program in the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS).

Instead of having commodity grading and inspection in multiple USDA agencies, the Grain Inspection, Packers, and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) will be merged into AMS. Currently, GIPSA and AMS.

Perdue added that some agencies have redundant administrative support functions, including human resources, information technology (IT). Those will be combined at the mission level.

The Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP) will into the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). 15 Federal nutrition assistance programs, including the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Secretary Perdue says the intention is to handle any staffing changes as as a result of the restructuring through attrition or reassignment.
