There are dozens of locations and events around Colorado looking for folks wanting to help give back to mother nature on National Public Lands Day Saturday September 30th.

National parks, public lands, monuments, city, and state parks all need volunteers to help restore, and repair them.

Carmen Young with the US Forest Service tells USDA National Public Lands Day started in 1994 as an effort to get people to come clean up or do trail maintenance, and have fun with educational activities.

In 1994 about 700 volunteers showed up. Last year.

"Approximately 236-thousand volunteers and they contributed an estimated 22-million dollars in public lands improvements."

The National Forests will not be charging fees on Saturday.

The Bear Creek Watershed, San Isabel National Forest, Soapstone Prairies Natural Area, Lost Creek Wilderness, construction of the Stone Quarry Trail and flood Restoration on the Little Thompson River are a few of the dozens of projects statewide looking for volunteers Saturday.
