Colorado Hay Report

Colorado Wheat trade slowed a bit at mid month.

Heath Dewey with the Greely USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News office has the latest news and numbers.

“Compared to last week, trade activity light. Demand good on retail stable hay. Spot market activity on all classes of hay is beginning to subside due largely to tight supplies and current hay prices.

In the northeast Colorado areas, large squares of premium quality grass hay 220 FOB, mid squares premium for retail and stable 312.50 FOB.

In the southeast Colorado areas, alfalfa small squares premium to supreme quality 240 FOB or 8 dollars a bail.”

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for the same period precipitation surpluses of 0.25 to 1 inch was widespread across much of the western Dakotas, eastern Wyoming, much of Nebraska, the northeastern corner of Colorado and parts of western Kansas.

The eastern Dakotas, north central Wyoming and much of southern Colorado had precipitation deficits of 0.25 inch during the period.
