Climate change is water change.

That was one of the main messages coming from the first Water in the West Symposium hosted by CSU in Denver.

Brad Udall a senior water and climate scientist at CSU told the participants that Colorado is not going through a drought but a more significant “aridification.”

Former and current Secretaries of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and Sonny Perdue and held a Q and A session.

Perdue who farmed in Georgia during a drought added this about water:

“We don’t think about 911 until that chest pain hits or that car crash happens. We take it for granted. And that’s what we do with water, we take it for granted.”

Colorado State is planning a new water center on the site of the stock show in Denver where more water symposiums will take place to find new ways of living and farming in a changing water climate.
