When Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue visited Colorado this Spring he heard from farmers about their ongoing problem of finding enough workers to help harvest produce.

He said then and he said again this week there are people in Washington working on finding a solution but like before he couldn't say when that solution with come or what it will look like.

Perdue was told this week by farmers in his home state of Georgia the problem of not having enough worker to harvest crops is getting worse. And he gets it.

"We're going to either import labor to harvest or import our food."

And he said there could be some movement this month.

"Chairman Goodlatte will have a bill hopefully this next week along with an e-verify program to address some of that to give us a legal agricultural workforce."

While the agriculture worker shortage in Colorado is bad, other sectors are struggling for fill jobs too. According to the Colorado Business Economic Outlook , job growth in Colorado was expected to slow as an overtaxed infrastructure system and worker shortages continue to weigh on the economy.
