The Colorado Livestock Association is hosting the 11th annual Marshall Frasier Beef Symposium on February 20th.

The symposium in Hugo, will offer information about the forecasts for both the Protein Market outlook and the weather outlook for spring.

The Livestock Association's Jessica Lemmel says Troy Applehans Market Analyst with Cattlefax will start the day answering questions about the economic outlook.

'What's going on with the cattle market and the protein market in general. And then the outlook at what producers can expect coming into the spring and summer. He also shared with producers the last time he came to speak some really useful tips. Cattlefax market reports are extremely beneficial to our producers."

Lemmel says Brian Bledsoe of KKTV will offer producers a long range forecast.

"From the time we heard from him in December he was expecting a pretty wet spring. I don't know if we are really having the wet spring he was expecting but that is what he was expecting in December. So we'll see what his more recent update is, especially as folks are getting into calving."

Attendees will also get an update in the case of a Yuma County feedlot accused of "illegally taking" almost 15,000 fish from the South Fork of the Republican River following a rainstorm and liquid manure spill. The Association has joined in an amicus brief in support of the feedlot.

A presentation on Handling Animal Health Supplies during the symposium will qualify as one of the two required annual safety trainings for CLA Safety Group members.

Registration is free for The Marshall Frasier Beef Symposium , but please register for lunch by this Friday, February 15.
