Colorado Proud Features Apricots
Apricots are one of the early season fruit crops grown in Colorado.
This is looking to be a good year for Colorado apricot growers.
The Department of AG marketing specialist Wendy Lee White says the Colorado Proud program is highlighting the little stone fruit in July.
"Some years we don't have any because the frost nips those little buds and because they are
So early. But I think we're expecting some pretty decent apricots. You can enjoy them in our apricot crisp which is a super easy way to enjoy this flavorful fruit."
White says the conditions so far have favored fruit growers of all kinds this year.
"What we're hearing from growers on the western slope is that it should be a very good fruit crop from the cherries and apricots which are early season. Peaches are coming on nicely as well."

According to the CDA , apricots originated in China 4,000 years ago, and the fruit is a member of the rose family. Choose apricots that are plump, firm and uniformly colored. Apricots are low in fat, sodium free and an excellent source of vitamins A and C.
