"This package is a three prong approach very similar to what it was last year.

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue says it's a 16 Billion dollar package including the Market Facilitation Program. Sign up for eligible commodities is set to begin Monday. The Food Purchase and Distribution Program and Agricultural Trade Promotion Program.

Perdue said this mitigation package and the one announced last year are not going to make the farmers financially whole.

Perdue also told Farm Credit executives in a speech in Washington that the USDA could begin distributing $3 billion in a separate disaster aid program in August.

The disaster aid, is for midwestern farmers who experienced flooding , southern farmers who experienced hurricanes and western forest owners who experienced fires. That was passed in June as part of the $19.1 billion supplemental disaster assistance bill.
