The FFA says it has reached a milestone in membership.

The organization announced a record-high student membership of 700,170, up from just under 670 thousand in 2018.

Colorado FFA Agricultural Program Director Michael Womochil tells Colorado Ag Today the enrollment in the Centennial State for 2018/19 school year was 7, 025 a number that's likely to be higher this year.

The Future Farmers of America focuses on young people throughout agriculture its and related industries. The groups' members develop leadership and career skills in a broad range of disciplines.

The top six student membership states are Texas, California, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio, and Missouri. This year, the organization has more than 100,000 Latino members, and 45 percent of the membership is female. Young women hold more than 50 percent of the leadership positions. FFA chapters can be found in 24 of the 25 largest U.S. cities.
