01/21/05 Washington Potato Conference

Farm and Ranch January 21, 2005 The 2005 Washington State Potato Conference and Trade Show will be held February 1st through the 3rd in Moses Lake. Conference chairman Dale Lathim, says programs this year will be at the new ATEC Conference Center at Big Bend Community College. Lathim: "And we have an excellent program with speakers coming from not only the northwest but there is a speaker coming from Israel as well as keynote speaker who had spent time earlier in his career very high up in Greenpeace and other "green" organizations and he saw the light so to speak, and has come over to the other side as far as environmental issues are concerned. So we think it is a very diverse program and one that we are very proud of." That keynote speaker is Dr. Patrick Moore who had been a founding member of Greenpeace. The trade show is at the Grant County Fairgrounds. Lathim: "We are using the Kenny Ardell Pavilion again. That is something we are proud to expand on each year in that we can provide more exhibit space and have it all indoors. There are new facilities for restrooms and a cafeteria concession area. So we feel it is going to be much better than last year." Entrance to everything except the Women's Program and the Washington State Potato Foundation Banquet is $5.
