06/17/05 Search for new Potato Comm. exec soon

Farm and Ranch June 17, 2005 Following its annual meeting next week, June 21st, the Washington State Potato Commission will begin to look for a replacement for Pat Boss, who left the organization May 27th. Karen Bonaudi, interim Executive Director, describes the search that will be conducted. Bonaudi: "We plan to launch a nationwide search at the end of the month where we will look for an Executive Director to come in and run the Commission as well as take on the environmental and regulatory, that is the governmental type activities." The Commission will begin advertising the position at the end of this month in national ag trade magazines and Washington daily newspapers. The hope is to have the Executive Director position filled by the end of summer. Meanwhile, Bonaudi has these words of praise. Bonaudi: "I just can't say enough about the staff here and the commissioners and how they have stepped up at this critical time of the year when we are short the leader of the organization and they really have been pulling more than their weight to see that things keep going here with the many issues that we tackle and also for this important meeting." That annual meeting includes adoption of the Commission's budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Elected Commissioners will also appoint two at-large Commission members at the meeting next Tuesday at Campbell's Resort in Chelan. That's the Northwest Farm and Ranch Report.
