APRE Sponsors Potato Immersion Experience

Several weeks ago the Alliance for Potato Research and Education hosted its second annual Potato Immersion Experience in Idaho Falls where nutrition communicators participated in learning more about potatoes from field to fork. APRE’s President and CEO Dr. Maureen Storey shares more about participants learned during the event.
Storey: “I think it was very important for us to help the nutrition communicators understand just where these potatoes that are being processed come from —- they come from the ground. And they come from very dedicated and passionate farmers. I don’t think that there could be anything or anyone better to share that passion than the growers. And that really drove it home for the nutrition communicators. In the processing plant, it also drove home to them that the processing of potatoes is very similar to what you would do in your own kitchen.”
Dr. Storey said in addition to learning more about the potato industry, a very important part of the Potato Immersion Experience is the powerful human connection the communicators gain with the growers.
