Durability of Mechanized Irrigation

Welcome to the Irrigation Minute brought to you by Reinke. Today we are talking with Reinke Director of Regional Sales Neil Lunzmann about the durability of mechanized irrigation systems.
Lunzmann: “Particularly on a Reinke machine, durability starts with our high strength steel. We recognized years ago, that one of the biggest issues that producers had with center pivots is getting stuck. Some of that has been changed with sprinkler packages and tire sizes. But one of the big issues is weight. Reinke designs its systems with less weight. But in order to make it strong to last that 25 to 30 years that it needs to last, we use a high tinseled low alloy steel. It gives them high durability and makes them last - almost forever.”
Lunzmann says that because these systems are lighter, there is less flotation issues and less stress on a system’s drive train. The wide tower base provides stability and allows the system to traverse a variety of terrains.|
He adds the improved galvanization helps the system to withstand what Mother Nature has in store for it. There are also options for the pipe material allowing choices for farmers when dealing with harsh water supplies.
