USPB Annual Meeting Next Week

USPB Annual Meeting Next Week

The United States Potato Board will be holding its 45th annual meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado next week. David Fraser, USPB Vice President Industry Communications and Policy, shares one of the most exciting topics of the upcoming meeting.
Fraser: “This will be a jam packed meeting with a lot of discussion. Of course, probably first and foremost is our salad bar challenge initiative that our CEO Blair Richardson announced there in January at the Potato Expo in Orlando. To date we’ve had very, very good interest from a number of organizations — grower organizations, state associations and actually even some agribusinesses — they are very interested in this program. That will be a big topic of discussion. Based on the interest of this, talking about the program. How we are going to actually deliver on the program. The easy part will be to get the salad bars in the schools. The more difficult challenge will be for the USPB staff to follow up with theses schools where the salad bars go — the school nutritionists, the school district nutritionists, the school lunch ladies actually in the school. And the food service suppliers working on ensuring that potatoes actually get on those potato-friendly salad bars.”
He adds that the marketing team will be presenting a work plan on how to execute the program.
