USPB New Market Opportunity with Potatoes Raise the Bar

The new marketing program for school nutrition professionals and students K through 12th grade — Potatoes Raise the Bar — brings new and innovative potato recipes to the generation known as the salad generation which has amazing spending power and a great influence on parents’ spending as well. USPB Vice President Industry Communications and Policy David Fraser shares
Fraser: “The salad bar challenge is ready to roll. We are looking for firm commitments for the industry to place orders with us to place salad bars and get these in the schools. We’re off and running. But more importantly we have found with the salad bar that it is a whole new market. A market that we really haven’t pursued ever is school nutrition, school food service. Just incredible — from a potato standpoint especially since kids love potatoes. We are realizing there is just a incredible huge potential. They are economical Potatoes are still probably one of the most economical items on the tray for food service directors to buy and we all know they are nutrition packed. So it becomes a really good option for them and really opens up really a whole new market for the potato industry.”
