Regional Weekly Hay Report

Here is USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders with the Columbia Basin Hay report from last week.
Sanders: “We had 23,200 tons of hay grade. Compared to last Friday, all grades of export alffaka were firm. Domestic feed falafel was not tested this week. Trade was active with good demand especially for premium export alfalfa and Timothy hay. Retail and feed store hay was steady in a light test. Alfalfa mid square bales for export market sold for $150 to $164 per ton. Orchard grass in the small square bales for the retail stable market sold for $190. Timothy mid squares for the export market on premium sold from $170 to $200 a ton.
In Idaho compared the previous week all grades of alfalfa were steady. Trade was moderate with good demand especially for Organic alfalfa and Timothy hay. Mid squares of alfalfa rated good to premium sold between $100 and $115 per ton for export and those rated fair to good organic sold for $130 per ton. Timothy grass mid squares rated good sold for $140 per ton.
In Oregon, prices trended generally steady compared to the previous week. In Central Oregon, large square bales of alfalfa rated premium sold for $125 per ton for the retail/stable market. In Lake County large squares or alfalfa rated premium to supreme sold for $170 per ton for export. In Klamath Basin large squares of Timothy grass rated premium sold for $280 per ton. In Eastern Oregon large squares of alfalfa rated supreme sold for $140 per ton. Harney County had no new sales confirmed.
