Executive Order to Review WOTUS

For the past several years, most ag commodity groups have been actively opposed to the EPA’s Water of The U.S. Rule. Yesterday by Executive Order President Trump ordered a review of WOTUS. This week American Farm Bureau’s Legislative Advocacy Conference in Washington D.C. Oregon Farm Bureau Federation’s President Barry Bushue was present and he shares

Bushue: “Administrator Pruitt was appointed just a week ago. We were fortunate to have him come address a large group —several 100 farmers and ranchers from across the United States — at our Annual FB Advocacy Conference. He got a rousing reception from folks that were thrilled about the fact that the president signed the executive order to roll back on the Waters of the U.S. which has been a huge thing for the American Farm Bureau. It’s been one of our priority issues —we called it Ditch The Rule. It’s particularly honorable that the American Farm Bureau president Zippy Duvall from Georgia was actually at the White House to witness the signing. It’s a big day for the American Farm Bureau — we’ve worked hard on this for a number of years at all the state and local levels. We’re just thrilled that there is an opportunity to bring a rule of law back into this. And actually have the EPA running things with regard to legislative intent as opposed to the type of overreach that we’ve seen they’ve done especially with the Waters of the U.S. rules and guidance documents.”
