Winter and Spring Wheat Condition

According to the NASS Crop Progress Report for the week ending June 4th, USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey shares that there has been a decline in winter wheat conditions.

Rippey: "Winter wheat condition we're seeing some late season declines in that wheat condition across the North."

He continues with the overall spring wheat conditions.

Rippey: "With 55 percent good to excellent down 7 points from last week, 11 percent very to poor that is up 5 points and that's sharply below last year's ratings 79 percent good to excellent."

In Idaho winter wheat is reported to be 55 percent good to excellent, 19 percent fair and only 6 percent very poor to poor. The spring wheat is rated 76 percent good to excellent and 20 percent fair.

In Oregon winter wheat is rated 78 percent good to excellent, 15 percent fair and 7 percent very poor to poor. Spring wheat is rated 81 percent good to excellent and 27 percent fair.

In Washington winter wheat conditions are positive — rated 84 percent good to excellent and 15 percent fair. Spring wheat is 83 percent good to excellent and 16 percent fair.

In Colorado winter wheat is 48 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair and 18 percent very poor to poor. Spring wheat is rated 95 percent good to excellent and 5 percent fair.
