10/27/05 2006 Direct Seed Conference

Farm and Ranch October 27, 2005 The 2006 Northwest Direct Seed Cropping Systems Conference & Trade Show is scheduled for January 5 & 6th at Kennewick, Washington. John Aeschliman, president of the Pacific Northwest Direct Seed Association, PNDSA, says CSP is the theme for the event. Aeschliman: "And the whole conference is on CSP, Conservation Security Program. How do you get into it. What do you have to do." Technical service providers will be on hand to answer individual Conservation Security Program questions. Other speakers will include Mike Hubbs, NRCS National agronomist and Zach Willey of Environmental Defense. Aeschliman: "He has been instrumental in setting up these carbon contracts that growers in the Direct Seed Association are associated with. He'll will be there." There will be features for both beginning and veteran direct seeders and an indoor direct seed equipment expo. The 2006 conference is the first to be sponsored and hosted entirely by the Pacific Northwest Direct Seed Association. Previous events were managed by the Solutions to Economic and Environmental Problems or STEEP program, with the association as a sponsoring organization. The Direct Seed Association will host an evening banquet in conjunction with its annual meeting.
