Following up on a story we told you about last week, the 2018 farm bill was released by the House Agriculture Committee.

One of the concerns with the bill are amendments to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

House Agriculture Committee Chairman Michael Conaway (R-Texas) said, there’s a lot of misinformation out there about those proposed changes.

"Those folks are going to have to tell production America, rural America, and by the way those urban guys are really dependent on stuff that goes on in rural America. Their voters enjoy the safest, most abundant and affordable food and survivors’ supply of any developed nation in the world, so yes, anybody who eats ought to be in favor of good agricultural programs."

During a conference call, Conaway said - the bill supports Americans and claims that the bill invests in able bodied workers, job training and work programs for unemployed people which in turn will provide “a springboard out of poverty to a good paying job.
