So it's conceivable and allow me to fantasize for a second, I get out on a lake. Have a wonderful day. Catch one of your tagged fish. End up with a 14 inch delicious dinner and then get a fly rod. That is definitely conceivable. Conceivable, if you're fishing the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's fourth annual statewide trout derby. Spokesperson Jim McDaniel: "This is the fourth year for our statewide annual trout Derby. The first year we did this. We had roughly 700 prizes totaling a little over eighteen thousand dollars and our fourth year were up to about eleven hundred total prizes and the new totals almost forty thousand dollars worth of prizes. So anybody who is eligible to fish whether they have a freshwater fishing license or a combination fishing license or youth age 14 and under are eligible.

If a guy was from Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and had a fishing license that guy could participate.

That is absolutely correct. As long as their license within the state of Washington which does include our temporary licenses they are eligible. Most of the lakes within the state will open on April 27th and they run through the end of October. During the fishing season if you catch a trout with this tag in it then you win a prize. We plant hundreds of thousands of rainbow trout each year. As we raise these through the hatcheries, we have the ability to tag them as we put them in. Catch a rainbow with a tag get a prize and a meal if you want. Web site: fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov
