07/04/06 Clearfield system now offers Clearmax

Farm and Ranch July 4, 2006 Wheat growers now have a new herbicide option with enhanced broadleaf weed control for use on their Clearfield Production System wheat acres. Jason Ward, Clearfield Market Manager with BASF says its called Clearmax. Ward: "It is a combination of Beyond of Beyond, which many of the growers in your area are familiar with. That is what they have been using on their Clearfield wheat for the last several years since the introduction of Clearfield wheat. In addition to that we have added MCPA to the Beyond and it is a product called Clearmax. It comes in a a duplex jug which delivers a gallon of MCPA and half a gallon of Beyond." Depending on your location, Ward says Clearmax will help with some specific broadleaf weeds. Ward: "It will help on such weeds as lambs quarter if there is a little bit of that out there. Some pigweed. And especially if your customers have mustard. The MCPA will in in controlling a little larger sized mustard than what Beyond has been able to do in the past." Ward says there will be just a limited supply of Clearmax available for this fall so interested producers should contact their ag-chem retailer. Beyond herbicide will also continue to be available as a weed control option in the Clearfield System, a system which features herbicide tolerant wheat varieties developed through traditional breeding techniques that are non-GMO.
